Onchocerciasis
What is it?
A parasitic disease caused by the filarial worm. It is often called “river blindness” because the blackfly which transmits the disease abounds in fertile riverside areas.
Symptoms
Blindness, skin rashes, lesions intense itching and skin depigmentation.
Transmission
It is transmitted through the bites of infected blackflies, which carry immature larval forms of parasite from human to human.
