Legionellosis
What is it?
Legionnaires' disease is caused by a type of bacteria called Legionella.
Symptoms
Legionnaires' disease can have Symptoms like many other forms of pneumonia, so it can be hard to diagnose at first. Signs of the disease can include: a high fever, chills, and a cough. Some people may also suffer from muscle aches and headaches.
Transmission
People get Legionnaires' disease when they breathe in a mist or vapor that has been contaminated with the bacteria.

Leishmaniasis
What is it?
People who have cutaneous leishmaniasis have one or more sores on their skin. The sores can change in size and appearance over time. They often end up looking somewhat like a volcano, with a raised edge and central crater. Some sores are covered by a scab. The sores can be painless or painful. Some people have swollen glands near the sores (for example, under the arm if the sores are on the arm or hand). Usually contracted in tropical and sub-tropical countries. The settings in which it is found ranges from Central and South America to deserts in West Asia.
Symptoms
People who have visceral leishmaniasis usually have fever, weight loss, and an enlarged spleen and liver (usually the spleen is bigger than the liver). Some patients have swollen glands.
Transmission
Transmitted by the bite of female sandflies.

Leptospirosis
What is it?
Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that affects humans and animals. It is caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira.
Symptoms
Fever, no Symptoms (in some cases), severe headache, chills, muscle aches, jaunice, conjunctivitis, red eyes, diarrhea, rash, bleeding.
Transmission
Outbreaks of leptospirosis are usually caused by exposure to water contaminated with the urine of infected animals. Many different kinds of animals carry the bacterium; they may become sick but sometimes have no Symptoms.

Lyme Disease
What is it?
Lyme disease is an infection that is spread by ticks. Most people who have had a tick bite do not get Lyme disease. Deer ticks and Western black-legged ticks carry the disease.
Symptoms
Round, red rash that spreads at the site of a tick bite. Flu like symptoms are prevalent in most cases. Fever and Nausea.
Transmission
Being bitten by an infected tick.
