Influenza (flu)
What is it?
Influenza (the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Symptoms
Fever (usually high), headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. More common in children than adults.
Transmission
Your respiratory illness might be the flu if you have sudden onset of body aches, high fever, and respiratory Symptoms, and your illness occurs during the usual flu season.
