Greetings, How sincere is your love? Romans 12:9 says, "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good" (NIV). Such a contrast. First, between love and hate. Then, between good and evil. Let's look at sincere love. This kind of love only comes from God. The only way we can receive or even try to understand this kind of love is through the born again experience. Without sincere love we will not learn how to hate evil. I know what you are thinking. How can love and hate be in the same sentence and come from God? This type of hate is not a sinful one but righteous. It covers anything opposed to God. So actually there is not a contrast between love and hate here because they are the same. To hate what is evil means to elimiate it from your life. When we cling to what is good we are grabbing onto what is of God. There is the contrast; doing away with evil and loving what is good. This is how sincere love is put to the test. Can you past the test? YFIC, Pastor Doug
